Author Takes Novel Approach with New Investment Dictionary

Wall Street Lingo: Thousands of Investment Terms Explained Simply, a new release by author Nora Peterson and Atlantic Publishing Company, shuns the traditional A to Z organization of standard dictionaries in favor of a subject-oriented approach.

Asked what drew her to this particular project, Ms. Peterson explains, "I’ve been involved in the financial markets for more than two decades. The shelves of my office are lined with reference books, but the one tool I could never find was a dictionary that didn’t intimidate or overwhelm the everyday investor. So I wrote one. Wall Street Lingo that does more than define words in alphabetical order. It’s organized in chapters – by subject. – and actually explains the terms in a way that just about anyone can understand. It’s a brand new concept for a financial dictionary and one that I think will help to tame the fear factor for new investors."

In addition to Wall Street Lingo, Ms. Peterson is the author of Retire Rich With Your Self-Directed IRA, which was recently named a finalist in the ForeWord Magazine 2007 Book of the Year Award, and Past Imperfect, a mystery released in 2006.

IRA Book by Sun City Author Named Book of the Year Finalist

Retire Rich With Your Self-Directed IRA, by Nora Peterson, has been named a finalist in the Book of the Year Awards, sponsored by ForeWord Magazine.

The awards, which will be announced at BookExpo America in Washington DC on June 1, 2007, are designed to allow libraries and booksellers to share in the discovery of some of the best new releases from independent publishers.

Asked what she thought made Retire Rich With Your Self-Directed IRA a standout in the competition, Peterson gave credit to Jo Moneymaker, the fictional character the author created to demonstrate the investment principles covered in the book.  “As Retire Rich begins, Jo has recently lost her job to downsizing.  She’s got a hefty 401(k) that she has to make a decision about–pronto.  The book tags along with Jo as she explores the opportunities available to her by rolling over her 401(k) to an Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA) and as she makes investment decisions designed to grow her account and protect her assets for her heirs.  I think the approach makes the book easy to read and understand.”

In addition to Retire Rich With Your Self-Directed IRA, she is the author of Wall Street Lingo, and investment dictionary to be released February 28, 2007 and Past Imperfect, a mystery released in 2006.  Ms. Peterson has more than two decades experience in the financial markets and currently trades the stock market and writes from her Sun City home.

Versatile Arizona Author Delivers One-Two Punch

Sun City, Arizona – November 1, 2006 – Two months after author Nora Peterson wowed reviewers with Retire Rich With Your Self-Directed IRA: What Your Banker & Broker Don’t Want You to Know About Managing Your Own Retirement Investments, she’s at it again – this time with Past Imperfect, a smart new romantic suspense.

What does she have to say about the seeming incongruity of making the leap from writing finance to fiction? “Managing your investments and plotting the demise of make-believe killers have more in common than you might think. Both require thoughtful analysis and the ability to recognize and exploit promising plot-points and the ability to dismiss everything else. The same is true for mystery/suspense readers. In fact, I’d say that readers who enjoy a good who dunnit have exactly what it takes to learn how to make smart investment decisions.”

Nora Peterson ought to know. She’s been active in the financial markets for more than two decades and currently trades the stock market from her home on the outskirts of Phoenix, Arizona. Her next book, a finance dictionary titled Wall Street Lingo, is due out in early 2007.

Past Imperfect is available on Amazon.com and from booksellers everywhere. For more information, you can visit Ms. Peterson on the web at www.norapeterson.com.

Former Computer Analyst Goes Digital For Debut Novel

Sun City, Arizona — Like the main character in Nora Peterson’s first romantic suspense, the author is hopelessly hooked on technology. That’s why she chose a publisher that specializes in electronic books (eBooks) for her recently released romantic suspense, Past Imperfect.  A paperback release will follow this summer.

Past Imperfect was released by Write Words (ebooksonthe.net) earlier this month.  Write Words publisher, Arline Chase says, “We are a small company and choose our books carefully. We only publish work from writers we feel are talented and have a lot to offer." Of Peterson’s book, Chase offered this comment. “Past Imperfect is a classic ‘girl in danger’ romantic suspense that will appeal to readers of mystery, romance, and women's fiction. Don't start this one after dinner, or you'll still be awake at 3 a.m.”

Reviewers agree. Here’s what JoEllen, at Lighthouse Literary Reviews (www.lighouseliteraryreviews.com) has to say about Past Imperfect. “I loved the no nonsense reporter’s voice used to tell this gripping tale of suspense, intrigue and murder.”

Publishing a book electronically requires taking a new approach to marketing and promotions. Instead of a launching her novel with a regional book tour, Peterson will kick things off on February 25 at an online chat with readers at Love Romances eBook Club (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/loveromancesebookclub).

"I can’t imagine going any other route," said Peterson, who worked in the computer industry for almost twenty years. “Certainly, I’m looking forward to the release of the print edition, also. Print books will always have their place, but eBooks give readers a choice. They are surprisingly easy to read and convenient and they’re already changing the face of publishing, worldwide.”

Ms. Peterson is also the author of Retire Rich With Your Self-Directed IRA, which will be released in print format later this spring by Atlantic Publishing Company. The print edition of Past Imperfect is expected within a few months, also.

Ms. Peterson may be contacted through her website at http://www.norapeterson.com, by e-mail at  nora_peterson@yahoo.com and through the Readers’ Station (http://www.readersstation.com), an online author/reader community.
